Artwork: Sora (Love Sick)

For this drawing project, I decided to draw Sora from my story, Love Sick. In it, he suffers a serious condition where close proximity with girls activates his gag reflex. Simply put, girls make him sick. Due to story details, I made him wear a generic white tee. The hand over his mouth is to keep himself from throwing up. I tried to make him look "cool," and at the same time, have him troubled. I think I succeeded on some level.

A pen and paper draft to start off with.
This was the first draft. I drew the picture on a notepad with a pen. I wasn't too concerned about making it perfect. The outlines were strong enough to guide me once I put the picture into Photoshop.
A rough sketch in Photoshop.

Once I had the paper draft, I made it transparent and retraced it in Photoshop. This is when I make sure that the proportions are correct and nothing looks out of whack. I add in finer details like wrinkles too. The goal is simply to get a good outline.

The initial product.
With better guide lines, I retrace it again. Once the lines are super clean, I add in shading and hair strands. Normally, I scratch in the shadows with multiple lines, but I wasn't satisfied with the look. I decided to flatten all the shading and give the image a chromatic feel. It gives it an almost...iconic aura. I may be talking out of my ass, but I settled with the matte black in the end.
The final product.
