I usually draw on paper first for my rough drafts, but this time, I decided to do everything in Photoshop. From conception to final production, everything was done on the computer.

The initial draft. Looks pretty horrible. |
It's a different experience drawing on a tablet. It's much harder to make smooth lines, but Photoshop has its advantages. If something looks wrong, I don't have to erase it. I can nudge separate elements around until it looks "right." I do a lot of resizing to make sure the proportions are correct.

The basic outline. Pretty bare bones. |
Kairi's smile didn't look right to me, so I changed it to a closed mouth one. Having Sora's fist hang in front of his face was kind of weird, so I extended his finger. It was hard for me to capture Sora's "sickness" without having him cover his mouth. I suppose you can say this picture is from his imagination. There are still certain parts of this picture that I'm just not satisfied with. There's always something a little "off" and it drives me nuts. Considering I do most of these drawings in an hour, I can't really complain. The more time I put in, the better the image will probably be. Between getting a finished product out or making everything perfect, I usually settle on the former.

Final product with all elements in place. |
