I can't see quality at a glance. This usually happens with highly regarded movies that don't blow me away with sheer awesome, but the more I think about it, the better it becomes in my head until finally... I see the light.

One of its defining features is the extended cut concept. Aside from the beginning and end, the movie is one long continuous shot that transitions cleverly through time and space. It's reminiscent of the final sequence in Children of Men.
I don't know what it is about Mexican directors and long shots, but I love it. Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro Iñárritu are technical masters of cinematography.
I got home and watched School of Rock. Richard Linklater seems to be severely underrated, considering his excellent filmography. He's on my radar now, and I can't wait to see what he's done.
I've been in a movie mood lately. Time to watch some more.
