Since I can count the number of days that I've woken up at five in the morning on one hand, I can remember this one vividly. Instead of taking the highway, I took the streets since traffic has got to be lighter at this time, right? Nope. Traffic lights be cramping my style, even at five in the morning. It didn't matter since I'm limited by the first man at work who has the keys. He's the gatekeeper. I can't go inside until he opens the door, so I chilled in the car.
Despite the amazingly early morning, I managed to get all my work in on time (courtesy of a fifteen minute lunch) and set out to take the Eligibility Technician test for the county. The test location was smack dab in downtown, which meant a lot of one-way streets and parking hassle.
Once I got inside, the familiar feeling of taking a test returned to me. Funnily enough, the only part I'm absolutely confident on is the math portion, but that's primarily because the level of arithmetic is grade school level. Kind of makes you think about the competency of government employees. I won't know my results until December, and they probably won't be hiring until fall of next year. All the qualifications in the world don't matter against the ironclad obstacle known as government bureaucracy.
