Mockingjay Part 1 wasn't as bad as I thought. I mean, it's the weakest in the trilogy for sure, but I was expecting all build up and no payoff. There was at least some action to redeem the movie from becoming a total slog. The quality of a movie is measured by how much my friend and I talk about it after walking out of the theater, which in this case, wasn't very much.
Since the evening was still young, we went to the Haven Gastropub at the circle. It had a nice ambiance but it was undone by middling food. I had French onion soup because my throat was feeling scratchy and I didn't want to eat something heavy in preparation for dinner at home. Considering what I had for dinner tonight, I made the right choice.
I don't know if my taste buds are messed up, but I'm frequently appalled by the the price to taste ratio disparity at these places. I don't think I'll ever find an appreciation for fine dining. I'm paying two to three times more for marginally better tasting food. Say what you want about fast food, but at least I don't feel guilty about it.
